Love, Respect and Dr. Oz

I’ve been a regular viewer of the Oprah Winfrey show for years.  I especially like her show when she’s recommending literature, or creating schools, or building homes for Katrina victims.  I appreciate the fact that she is very generous and loves giving gifts. It’s fun to watch the reactions of people who receive gifts from her. I also like when she talks about the special issues of women.

One of her special guests has been Dr. Mehmet Oz. He’s such an energetic, friendly and charismatic man, who obviously loves teaching about health issues.  So I was happy when he got his own show, and I enjoy watching it for all the health tips and information that he gives.

There’s something that I’ve noticed about his show and I’m very encouraged.  His show is very interactive, with his “Truth Tube”, dancers, martial artists, personal trainers, etc. He also turns his studio into a big medical lab and makes his audience his students!  The thing that is so remarkable to me is that he has brought on many black people from all walks of life onto his show. Some are the experts, some are the personal trainers, some are the regular folks looking for his help. This sounds like it shouldn’t be a big deal, doesn’t it?  But it is because in comparison, most other shows will not do this simple thing!  The show has been on the air for about 2 months so far, and I have learned quite a bit about different health issues that I can apply to my life right now.

What I like about Dr. Oz, and what everybody else obviously likes, is that he is truly a people person without pretense and is able to see people for who they are as individuals.  We need more people like Dr. Oz in television land, who aren’t bamboozled by negative stereotypes, and aren’t perpetuating them,  and who can look at everybody and see them for exactly who they are whatever their race.  He shows great love, concern and respect for people!  Isn’t this what Jesus wants?

  5. >I love Dr Oz too…he's the best medical advisor I've ever seen on TV. You've got to love a guy who can discuss any subject..ANY SUBJECT…without a winch, a blush, or a batting eye. And the way he is hands on up close and personal AND extremely interesting. Thank you for this great post it is soo true.Have a very Merry Christmas Anna Renee may the blessing of our Lord be with you and yours at Christmas and through out the New Year
