The Stylistics Round 2. The quintessential soulful ballad album!  If you don’t have this in your collection, allow me to show you right now why you better get it!  First of all, there are no “B” cuts on this one!  Every song is exquisitely lush and beautiful!  This album is so good because of the gorgeous falsetto of Russell Thompkins, Jr as the lead vocalist. Then there’s Herbie Murrell, Airrion Love, James Smith and James Dunn filling out the group, with Thom Bell, whose lush and beautiful producing made the
Stylistics some  of the most successful soul balladeers of the early 1970s. They dominated the charts for half the decade with 12 straight top ten hits! The Stylistics Round 2 reminds me of my youth and young love and singing into the hairbrush thinking about that boy that was NOT thinking about you!  This album was full of very beautiful love songs and beautiful delivery of those songs. We need not lament the demise of soul music for as long as there are CD’s and Youtube Angels there will continue to be very beautiful music!  Here’s a little bit of sweet soul music, Philly Style!  Enjoy!

Ahhh shucks 1st you had me singing (squeeling) Al Green tunes fo a week and now this. The Stylistics-a class act indeed. And don't even get me started on the vocal master Russel Thompkins. The honest intimacy that he brings to "Children Of The Night" gets me every time. And that cheezy wha-wha pedel that just won't go away is the icing on the cake…After listening to "you'll never get to heave if you break my heart" I couldn't help but go straight into my itunes library and dig up my Dione Warwick Collection(that's another whole story…hmmm? I feel a blog comming on>>LOL)In closing-Your as right as rain..softer than a flower sweet as marmalade….Good God!! It get's no betta….Thanks for making this post.
